Suma Tsunashiki Tenman Shrine

This Shintō shrine is dedicated to Sugawara Michizane, also known as Tenjin, the patron of study and learning. It is one of the Tsunashiki shrines, which are said to be shrines visited by Sugawara on his way from Kyōto to Kyūshū after his exile from the imperial court. Located near Suma Beach, there are images of surfing and the ocean around the shrine grounds.
